Naturalisation of children

Hi,

I have been granted ILR in Dec 2019, will apply for citizenship in Dec 2020. My wife and children came a year later than me, they will apply for ILR in Feb next year. I understand that my wife can apply for naturalisation immediately after she gets ILR if i am British citizen at that time (She does not have to wait for 12 months).

The question is:

1- Can my children apply for naturalisation at the same time with my wife or do they have to wait for 12 months after getting ILR ?

2- If i dont apply for the ILR of children in Feb, only my wife applies for ILR and than for passport, can we apply directly for citizenship of children (skiping ILR step which can save us a lot of money), considering at that time, both parents will be British passport holders. (The children will have PBS dependent visa for 3 years and they wont be illegal residents)

Please note all my children were born outside UK, age 12,9,5 years

Thanks for your time, really appreciate that.

Children are registered as British. Only adults are naturalised!!

1. They can apply when your wife does if under 18.

2. No. Children born abroad need ilr first. There is no shortcut for children born abroad.

Also see this recent case of foreign born children's registration getting refused because they did not have ILR.
