British Passport for Child on ILR

My son (13) is currently on ILR. I would like to apply for a British passport for him; can this be done online?
Does anyone know what the rough processing times are, under current circs?
Edit: Both parents are on ILR, too.

Where was the child born, UK or abroad??
If the child was born abroad, they will only qualify to apply to register as British once either parent is also applying or is already British and the other parent holds ilr. Note that registration as British is required BEFORE a British passport can be applied for.
If the child was born in the UK, only then can you register the child as British with parents on ilr. The child, if UK born, also did not require ILR.

Born abroad.
Thanks for the info. I guess either myself or his mother will have to apply alongside.
Do you know rough processing times for this?

Applications for citizenship can take between 8 weeks and 6 months, sometimes longer.
The passport application is separate to this and can take up to 6 weeks once you are British.
