MN1 application made online... no biometric appointments

I'm British by descent, living in the UK for going on four years now with my young children, who were all born in the US.
I completed the MN1 registration forms for them, since they're now eligible, and I have the time during lockdown.
Once I submitted and paid, on the confirmation page I got a notice saying that the biometrics needed to be completed within 60 days. And on the UKVCAS / Sopra Steria site, a notice saying that appointments are canceled for the foreseeable future.
• Is the application considered submitted on the day that it's paid/submitted? Or is it not "submitted" until the biometrics are also taken and submitted? (We were all present in the UK on the day that I submitted the online application... but do I need to be careful about taking the biometrics, eventually, on a day that were were all present?)
• Has the 60 day biometric completion window been extended? Does anyone know how much more time we'll have... considering they're all closed, with nothing published about when/how they'll open again?
• Does anyone know if it's possible to just post the relevant documents (passports, birth certificates, etc) to the Home Office, and do biometrics at the Post Office, which is still open?
Thanks!

Date if application is the date you submit and pay online. Date if biometrics appointment is irrelevant.

No one will be penalised for exceeding the 60 days auto notice you get when you apply online while the centres are closed.

You cannot post the documents to HO anymore, they must be digitally uploaded and you cannot enroll biometrics at the post office if you do not specifically have a letter from HO requesting you to do that and only a very limited number of applications can still use the post office, citizenship is not one of them.

Thank you for the quick reply!
Phew, that's good to know about the date of submission, and that the 60 days *shouldn't* be an issue.
I'll just sit tight for now...

We are in a similar situation to Justin but have an interesting development: After submitting the application online for my 4 year old, i uploaded the documents, and left it there knowing that I will have to wait until the bio centers are open again for the application to be processed. But the next day i got an email with the following wording: Thank you for your application to the Home Office. Your application has been received and is being considered.
Does that mean they started processing the application without waiting for biometric appointment because the child is under 5 and no biometric is needed? Thanks

Children still enroll biometrics, ie digital photograph and identity check. The email is a generic ine., Most people get it.

Good to know thanks - the wording is not clever though... It should say the application is received but should not say “being considered”

Hi Joey/Joe,
We received the same confirmation emails for the kids, but hadn't even uploaded any additional documentation. Go figure. The system may be online, but it's certainly not "smart"!

Have you received that email on the same day of your application?

I hit submit/paid the application fee at 10pm last Wednesday, and received the email the following day just after 3pm. It's sent by "
hocommunications@communications.homeoffice.gov.uk" if you want to check your spam folder.

We checked and nothing was sent since her application on Monday!
