Hi Guys,

When applying for newly born child outside UK to the parents who holds valid British Passport.
The query is regarding countersignatory for photograph.
Child is newly born & haven't travelled outside the cuntry where it is staying currently.

1) Could somebody from friends & family of the parent in UK, sign as countersignatory ?
Is this acceptable?

2) Or it has to be someone with Commonwealth passport, living in the same country where child was born & staying?

Kindly advise

Cheers

Is it possible to cancel First British passport application from Overseas & apply to Coe-roa midway

Hi,

Sorry for slightly odd query.

We will be applying for first British passport for a child born outside UK to British parents.
Child has claim to British Citizenship through descent, as born to British parents.
The application processing time is long & could take more than 8-10 months.

But if during that time, if we manage to get a passport of the third country where child was born.
(Getting this third country's passport for child is quicker but will passport be granted/not is NOT guranteed/sure & as their passport eligibility laws also are complicated. & if they grant the passport then they do not allow holding any other country's passport, but Coe-Roa is fine, in that case)
Then if successful, we're thinking to cancel the British passport application & go for COE-ROA.

Will it be possible?
Could we cancel First British passport application in mid-way & apply for COE-ROA?

Kindly suggest

Cheers

As a child born in India to parents both of whom are British citizens, your child is not eligible for an Indian passport, if that is what you are aiming at. Better to wait for the British passport.

Thanks for your response.
Not specific to any third country, but in theory is it possible?
A) To cancel 1st British Passport application & apply to CoE-RoA? - Ans. I called Home Office & according to them cancelling passport application is very much possible (with loss of fees).

B) Is it possible to cancel / switch from First British Passport & switch to CoE-RoA. - Kindly let me know.
I think for CoE-RoA - one Not Possessing British passport is the requirement.

Thanks

Is this acceptable? (bearing in mind that they may not have meet the child personally but knows the parents from several years)

2) Or it has to be someone with Commonwealth passport, living in the same country where child was born & staying?

Kindly advise about countersignatory situation when applying from abroad

Hi Bob...

Kindly update if you have been able to figure out how to get the counter signatory done for the overseas Uk passport application and so let us all know how long it took for your application to be processed if it has been all done.

Thanks
