I am due for naturalisation in jan/2021 but due to corona virus I have been stuck outside of the U.K. as the airport got shut suddenly while I was on annual leave. I have passed the 90 day threshold and still can’t return. Will this delay my naturalisation process ? Are there by special rules for COVID-19?

Thank tou

There are no special rules due to Covid unfortunately.

HO normally disregard absences of up to 110 days in the final 12 months.

Simply wait till you are within the absence limit and then apply.

Thank you for the reply

As you are aware the guidance does state discretion of the officer and it is possible due to COVID this is regard as extreme circumstances?

I will hopefully travel back soon and be within the 110 days you stated (105 days out side in the last year) and below the 450 days in the last 5 years.

How would you recommend me playing that?

Should I apply in Jan as planned and state COVID and airport closure as a cause or wait till March when I can be 90 out of the kingdom?

Thank you
