Hi
I will be applying for naturalisation soon. One of my friends with British passport is ready to be my referee.
But his passport has expired and he has not yet renewed because of COVID 19.
My query is can he be my referee with an expired British passport?
Thanks in advance

Even with an expired passport, he is still a British citizen. There is no obligation for him to carry a valid passport.

Professional referee for British citizenship application

Hi
I will be applying for British citizenship soon.
For the referees, first one I have a friend who is British citizen and above 25 and ready to be my referee.
But I am really struggling finding my professional referee.
My landlord was in Royal Marines but retired now is ready to be my 2nd referee. I have known him for 4 years.
Is he acceptable as a professional referee by Home Office.
Thanks in advance

I used a retired Royal Marines officer and it was just fine.
I think these professional referees on the list (GP, Engineer, Post Office officer, Funeral Director, Policemen... ) can be either active or in service.

Thanks a million for clarifying this issue.
But my landlord was just a marine and not an officer in the Royal Marines.
Is it still okay for him to be a professional referee.
Thanks again
