HI,
My son born outside UK on April 2015 and came to UK on 15th October 2015 on Tier2 child Dependent Visa. He got ILR on 18-07-2019.
I got my British citizen in Feb 2020.
First Question:
Do I apply for naturalisation or MN1?
Second question:
on the naturalisation application, there is following question;
If you are the husband, wife, or civil partner of a British citizen, you must have been in the UK for the last 3 years. If you are not the husband, wife, or civil partner of a British citizen, you must have been in the UK for the last 5 years. This is called your ‘qualifying period’.
You must have been in the UK on the first day of your 3-year or 5-year qualifying period
You must not have spent more than 270 days outside the UK during a 3-year qualifying period, or 450 days during a 5-year qualifying period
You must not have been outside the UK for more than 90 days in the last 12 months
You must not have been here illegally in the 3-year or 5-year qualifying period
Do you meet these residence requirements?
Can he apply for naturalisation now? or does he need to wait until 18th July 2020 ( 1 year after receiving ILR)? or does he need to wait until 15th Oct 2020 ( 5 years from the 1st date of arrival)?
Thank you.

Yes, children under 18 are not naturalised, only adults are. Children are REGISTERED as British.

This isn't relevant to a child MN1 application. It referee to adult naturalisation.
Do you meet these residence requirements?
Children don't have a minimum residnece requirment for citizenship.

He can apply if one parent is British (ie already attended ceremony) and the other holds ilr.

Hi,
Thanks for replying.
Yes, I currently hold British Passport and his mother got ILR.
He is applying alone to MN1.
What should I select for the below question?
You were born outside the UK
- Your parent is British by descent and lived in the UK or a British Overseas territory for at least 3 years before you were born
- Your parent is British by descent and you and your parents (unless they are legally separated) are now living in the UK or a British Overseas territory
- You were born on or after 13 January 2010 and your parent was serving in the UK armed forces
- You were adopted abroad by British citizen parents
- You were born before 1 July 2006 to a British father and your parents were not married
- One or both of your parents is applying for British citizenship
- Other - apply at the discretion of the Home Secretary

Hi,
Thank you. I just want to be clear. That’s all.
Thank you so much.
Regarding other ID, I couldn’t find the post new topic button. Hence why I created the other one to check it. Once I found it, then I came back to old one and posted here. All my posts are within same account. I will disable the new one or you can delete the new one.
Thanks
