Hi,

My partner and I are thinking of moving abroad for a job offer. He already has BC (naturalisation) since June.

Would be great if someone can confirm this: If we have a child born outside the UK, the child will have BC by descent (from my naturalised partner). But their children (our grandchildren), if they are born outside the UK, will not automatically have BC?

I suppose the policy still holds even if we adopt a child outside the UK?

It is slightly more complicated for adoption and there is a set prescribed procedure that needs to be followed. There are countries that UK does not recognise the adoption, i.e. those not signed up to the Hague Convention and the UK also does not support adoptions of family members children, also known as 'gifting'.

Nationality and Travel
If the family should subsequently wish to return to the UK, they must apply for entry clearance in respect of the child or make a separate application for British Citizenship. They may consult the Home Office for more information.

That suggests that the child will not automatically be a British citizen, but will need to be registered as a British citizen, probably also requiring a period of stay in the UK and both parents meeting other criteria.
