Hi ,

If both parents have EEA passports, and both have Indefinite Leave to remain in the UK (settled status) - will their newborn child be automatically eligible for a British passport?

Kind regards.

Excellent, thanks Garth1989 .

Do you know if it will it be the normal cost of a British child passport, or do the costs differ?

When was child born? If born after you obtained Settled Status then child is automatically British.
Passport costs as per HMPO fee list. Note there is no specific application necessary - apply online or via paper form.

If the date of birth of the the child is on or after the date of grant of Settled Status AND the child is born in the UK, then the child is a British citizen automatically and can apply directly for a British passport.

Retain proof of the parents' Settled Status as that will be the basis of the child's (and potentially their children's-your grandchildren's) British citizenship.

The costs will be the same as for any other first child passport.
