Hello All,
Greetings and hope you are well.
I currently hold valid UK ILR Settlement.
My Indian passport expired on April 10 2019 and I haven't submitted my onine application for UK naturalisation due to COVID-19. I haven't travelled outside UK since start of this year.
Can you please let me know
1. if I need to renew my Indian passport prior to submission of UK naturalisation application online (or)
2. Alternatively, I could continue my submission with my expired Indian passport.

If point 2 is valid, then I have another doubt with the below question (from naturalisation online application form):

Do you have a valid passport?
Reason for not providing your passport , I should choose "Other" and provide reason that "my Indian passport has expired and I am unable to renew the passport at this moment due to COVID".

Any guidance from the forum members would be really helpful.

Many thanks.

1. Not necessary
2. Use expired passport

I understand you will need to provide alternative evidence of residency for the period April 2019 to date of application, such a P60, Council tax bills or other official documents/communications, such as HMRC, DWP child benefit, pensions, etc. Normally as an ILR holder just your valid passport is sufficient.

Thank you alterhase58 appreciate your reply. Apologies I mentioned as April 2019, my passport expired just two months before, i.e in April 2020.

Yes I have council tax bills and other documents for this period. I got confused with "Valid passport" and "Expired passport".

Many thanks for your reply.
