AN form - how long my passport and BRP will be taken for

Hi, me and my wife and our son are applying for citizenship, following 1 year after receiving ILR (Tier 2 General route).

I believe I filled out the right AN form and now I need to send my documents. A few things I wanted to clarify:

1) While my application is being processed, I understand it can take up to 6 month. Can I travel abroad during this time?

2) They require original of our passports. Will they keep our passports for whole duration of application, so we won't be able to travel?

3) BRP appears to be acceptable in scanned copy, so I can retain BRPs for the duration of my naturalisation application? Are they stay valid and will be accepted on UK border entry?

Thanks

Presumably you completed the online form and not the paper form?

1. Yes, free to travel.

2. No originals are submitted. Everything is uploaded digitally to the ukcvas portal.

3. Yes and yes. Your ilr remains valid until you become British, which is only when you attend your citizenship ceremony.

Thanks for quick response. This is the step I on at the moment and this is what it says:
Providing your documents
You must provide your documents after you submit your application, these can be originals or copies. Any passports provided must be originals.

You will be able to upload copies of your documents on our commercial partner's website, or you can take your documents to your biometrics appointment to be scanned and uploaded by our commercial partner for a fee. You'll be told how to book an appointment and upload your documents after you submit your application.

You do not need to send any physical documents to the Home Office or UK Visas & Immigration unless you are advised to do so.

Will they request passport at the very last step and return it immediately, so I am technically not restricted with my travel plans?

No. They rarely asked applicants to send them originals.
so I am technically not restricted with my travel plans?
Free to travel, note however that ukvi can and sometimes do ask for originals to be sent to them. If an applicant is asked for at some point during the process, you get it back once a decision is made.
