Hello guru,I've been following your blog for sometime now and I have this pressing question I'd wanted to ask.
Pls I made an application for naturalisation and got a negative decision solely cause the homeoffice said I have a CCJ brought to me by upper tribunal and immigration CHAMBERS and I was issued £480 fine that I have not pay till date.as I wasn't awared of any CCJ against me I immediately called all the county courts in England and Wales none seems to have any judgement again me and I also called the upper tribunal and immigration CHAMBERS mentioned and they had nothing against me too and credit check myself at clear scores nothing came up.
I was advised to ask for reconsideration and to attached a postal orders of £480 and send to them.
I did just as I was advised and my question for you is what are my chances for a positive outcome and this was their only reason for refusal.
Has anyone pls had similar situation to mine.
Any advice or suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Chybyke.

Hello
A CCJ lasts 6 years on your records and may happen without you knowing.
I almost ended up with a CCJ because I sold my car, then moved address. The DVLA never received the paper I sent to them that I sold the car. Their issued a fine. I never received it... and it was really by pure luck that I found out when the entire thing was in court. I just ran to court, they gave me a number, called them and paid over the phone and everything was sorted.
But I realised how easy it was to get a CCJ.
You need to search here:
https://search.trustonline.org.uk/Search/Person
Make a search for each address you had during the last 6 years. If you have multiple surnames, try with various combination.
Then only if you are 100% satisfied there is no CCJ, fill for a reconsideration. Tell them that you searched everywhere and you couldn't find any CCJ.
They might have confused you with somebody else.

Hello thanks for your swift response but I have checked everywhere and the only case I have lost was with the homeoffice in 2014 and I was represented by my lawyer.
But I have issued a postal order for the amount since not county has made such judgement against me.

You may then lodge a reconsideration telling them they are wrong and there no CCJ you are aware off.
I know the Home Office is messy and often they miss documents or use incorrect information, but make sure you are not wrong yourself.

No worries bro

I also spend money from time to time to check these things + my credit score. Just to ensure things are doing well.

Bruv there are differences between litigation cost and CCJ and their refusal letter never mentioned anything bout the cost owe to the homeoffice just said CCJ and as far as I'm concerned no county court in England hold any judgement against me.
I might be wrong but a single judgement can't be used to determined someone is of no good character.
I have asked for reconsideration and also I attached a postal order of the alleged debt (£480) and I hope of a positive outcome otherwise ima go for judicial review.
Cheers.

Give a try to it before proceeding to reconsideration.

Not sure as whether everyone knows that a lot of money lenders especially the credit card providers offer an amenity to its valued customers in collaboration with their affiliates in accessing their credit scoring report including a check over CCJ without incurring even a penny.

@seagul
I have checked and nothing came up.and I have already filed an application for reconsideration and attached a postal order of (£480)and given that I met every other requirements a single county court judgement /legal cost is enough reason to refused an application?
Much appreciated
