English Language Test

Hi, I have been following this forum for a long time. I applied for my naturalisation beginning of June . I had a
Grade 5, Graded Examination in Spoken English.
(Entry Level CertificateIn ESOL International (Speaking and Listening) Entry 3).
CEFR Level B1.1 with Distinction.

I read here that this expires and Inwas shocked. English is my first language and I was not out of the Uk except for a couple of months since I got this.
I still have no news about my application, so do I book another test now and send it to them, it won't take me.more than 2 days to book it, get the certificate and send it. But I am also confused because I read somewhere it is ok if it is expired.
I did it in April 2017 and applied for naturalisation in June 2020. I already had my ILR but delayed naturalisation because of a fresh offence. Thank you.

If your qualification has run out
Some recognised test qualifications only last for 2 years. You can still use a B1 level qualification that you took more than 2 years ago in 2 situations.
Applying for citizenship
You can use a B1 level qualification that’s run out if you’re applying for citizenship and it was accepted when you settled in the UK.

It does not matter if the B1 level test you took is not on the current list of recognised tests. You do not need to take another test.

Reading your post again, its unclear if you used the same test for your ILR or not? If not, then you can not use it for British Citizenship as its 2 years old.
If you used it for your ILR, then you can use the same for British Citizenship irrespective of its 2 years old.

In the former case I am assuming you applied ILR via refugee route?

Hi Thank you for your answer. Yes I applied for the ILR via the refugee route. I do not remember them asking for any tests. I did the test after being given my ILR, it was a year after as I wanted to apply for naturalisation but I was advised not to do it afterwards as I had an offence and needed to wait 3 years. What you quoted from the guidelines is what I read but I never understood it. Thank you

To be safe, I think you should take another B1 test, in case they don’t give you a sufficient opportunity to do so.

Hi thank you. Do you who I should send the certificate to? The contact details please. Also I have 2 separate case IDs, one when I paid and the other one end of August when I did biometrics, so which one do I use? Thank you

Maybe you do not have the correct software to open the PDF file?

Normally the decisions are reported to come from a different email address. You may want to email them (email stated in last post) to double check. Try to relax and stay positive.

I can understand your nervousness but I am afraid you will have to wait patiently till you get a response or you can call UKVI but you will have to wait either way.

Thank you bro. I have sent 4 emails to different addresses. Called the help line but they really have no clue, asked for the decision or if they can email the HomeOffice especially that the guidelines say they cannot help before reaching a decision but it seems its just general enquiries. I'm now downloading different apps to see if I could view the PDF. I know a lot might think well you have a decision but I jave cancelled everything for the day and I am anxious and very nervous I cannot think properly I have been waiting for this for 17 years. I hope someone who knows about these things technically could help me.
Also, Cullinan do you think I should cancel the Englosh test, it's for tomorrow otherwise I'll lose another 150

Can you tell what sort of file it is? What is the file type? What are the last letters after the last “.” of the file name?

At the moment, we dont know what the decision is.

Usually, if an English Test is not acceptable, the CW may apply discretion and asks for an up to date test allowing some time to produce it.

I am not sure what the letter is. You will have to wait till you hear back or the PDF magically opens up.

Also, the approvals these days are reported to be sent via a different email address than quoted by yourself. I am not sure if they use different email address though.

For now, you may consider to cancel the test.
Make sure you read the cancellation policy though. In case you need the test again, you can book it again then.

It isba PDF. I installed Acrobat reader after trying Microsoft Edge, Word, Online reader and everything. Even Acrobat reader says cannot be opened because it is either damaged or wrong format from source. I am searching online and tried many different things. When you open it on Word you get a blank document and on PDF propertoes it says the file is 0kb.

Hi Cullinan, Trinity college isn't answering. I can book the test anytime it is very easy and they do not seem to be under pressure.

The email which they sent me the email from is: NationalityCaseWorkDecisionService@homeoffice.gov.uk

Is this the email they send the approvals from lol?

Yes this is the correct email address reported for decisions/approvals. Why did you quote a different one previously though?

Edit: Oh okay the other email was in case you wanted to report an error.

Yes bro. I know I am doing your head in. But was it a different email address for refusals? I cancelled my English Test, they said they have a lot of availability so in case (God Forbid) I was refused I can book it anytime.

I have finally found the error message. Unfortunately I can never open the file because it is 0KB, it was too compressed when the Case Worker scanned it apparently, these are the answers I am getting online and it says that it wil never be opened except from the source so I will never know unless the Home Office replies to my enquiry, issue is that they said in their automatic response that they take up to 20 working days and with COVID-19 it is even more and I cannot chase them for it. Everythojg is difficult it seems.

Was there another email address for refusals? Lol
