Online confirmation vs letter of confirmation

Hi all,

Quick question - I have seen that several users are reporting that they got an email confirming the outcome of their application instead of a letter.
I was wondering if this is something that happens when you have sent your application online? Is this something new?

It seems that since this weekend UKVI seems to have expedited the resolution of the applications. Hopefully we will see some more updates from more users in the next few days/weeks!

Fingers crossed!

Dani

No, it has nothing to do with applying online. The online process has been in place since November 2018.
Is this something new?
Yes, due to lock down and work from home etc. Note that it likely applies only to those who applied and enrolled biometrics before the lockdown.

Hello, I am one of those who applied before the lockdown (20 Jan 2020, enrolled biometrics 27 Jan 2020) and just yesterday I received email confirmation that a decision has been made and that the application was successful.

The Home Office letter was attached to the email and also stated that because of Covid, citizenship ceremonies are not currently taking place. When citizenship ceremonies resume, they (Home Office) will send out the invitation letter and I will then be able to book a ceremony with the local authority.

The letter pretty much had the same type of layout as my EU Settled Status letter which I also received online, as an attachment in the email.

Thank you both for your reply.
I applied in mid March and did my biometrics on the 20th of March. Hence I am expecting that it will take a while yet to get a reply.
I will keep you posted!

Hello

Hope that you are all ok

I contacted HO and got the below

Thank you for your e-mail requesting progress on your application for British Citizenship.

I am happy to advise that your application has been approved. However, due to the current COVID-19 situation, and the relevant staff not being in office, Decision Letters are not being issued at this time.

Once the situation has improved, you will receive a letter requesting that you arrange to attend a Citizenship Ceremony.

Yours sincerely

I enrolled my biometrics on 13th of March and got my approval letter just yesterday, so you're probably about to get it soon as well.

I would like to thank to all the admins and all the users of this forum.

You provided guidance, understanding and patience since I started looking at this forum exactly one year ago. Back then was when I started my journey of taking the exams required to complete my application for citizenship.

On Saturday, I did my citizenship ceremony and on Monday I sent the documents required to apply for my first passport. I would like to wish good luck to everyone and once again I would like to thank to the admins of this forum for their great contribution.

All the best,
Dani
