Dear respected members,
I have a question regarding my naturalisation application. I am now eligible to apply for naturalisation. However, unfortunately, yesterday I lost my current passport. I am going to my embassy to apply for a new passport on Monday next week, this process may take a time. I also have a valid national identity card from my home country.

The question is can I still go ahead and apply for naturalisation?

I would appreciate your guidance and support.

Do you have a copy of your full lost passport? You should report it lost also.

You will need current original passport to attend your biometrics appointment.

So that means I need to wait until the new passport arrives?

You need to provide your current passport details in the online form.
Also, you will need it to attend your biometrics appointment.
You get 2 months to book an appointment.
However, you can not edit the completed online form. Unless you want to add a cover letter to explain and add new current passport copy details/upload a copy before biometrics.


PS: I think the online form lets you declare your passport is lost. Once you declare that, it will ask for lost police report.
I think, you can follow that procedure. In this case, it will not generate your passport details in the checklist.
However, I have known people who had problems at UKVCAS centre without a passport.

The best is to wait till you get a new passport.

I have reported this to Report my loss now and got a code. The police officer said that's the only thing I can do for now.

I can opt to write a cover letter but yes you are right there might be issue when I go for biometric appointment.

Just wondering if you can provide further guidance on some of the thoughts I am having.
1- If I opting to apply for BC now and say if I get approval for BC, then I don't need to keep a second passport (current nationality)? Is this correct?
2 - For travel back to home, can I use my foreign national card instead of having a second passport?

1) I think you mean not renewing Pakistani passport/carrying Pakistani passport? or renouncing Pakistani citizenship?

2) You can travel to Pakistan on British Passport. You need to have NICOP or Pakistani visa. NICOP is valid for 10 years.
