Employment Details

Good Morning Respected Member!
I am applying for naturalisation on the basis of ILR (Tier 2 G 5Years Route), granted 10th June 2019.
I have got question(s) in the employment details’ section. Currently, I am getting my salary in my personal account since August 2019, not enrolled on PAYE scheme, as I want to be self-employed. However, I have not informed the HMRC yet, as to my knowledge one should inform them after one year of being self-employed.
Now, in the form it asks, “are you currently employed?”, to which I should answer “YES”? (make me correct if I am wrong please!), and in the next question I should answer “Self Employed” to the question “your type of employment?” (again, please make me correct if I am wrong!).
Further down in the form it requires ”Tax office reference number “, I am sure I need to get it from HMRC, should I call them or can I get it online?
Please guide me!

Hello
I recommend you see a tax adviser before you proceed. Your tax affairs must be 100% OK before lodging a citizenship application. If there is anything not right with HRMC, the refusal is a certainty.

"You can apply online once you have held ilr for the full 12 months. There is no "28 days early" concession for citizenship.
You must meet all the requirements, including being physically present in the UK on the same date 5 years ago as the date you submit and pay online."
I am supposed to apply on 1st September 2020 based on 5 year tier 2 G route.
In terms of "physically present". I was present in the UK physically on 1st September 2016, am I right in applying on 1st September 2020?
I am calculating backward from september 2020?
please!

Yes

Yes - all periods documented are from the application date backward. The application date is the date you submit/pay online.

If you apply on 1st Sep 2020. you should be physically present on 2nd Sep 2015* if you are applying in your own right.

I agree with previous comment that you should get a tax adviser (not the forum for that). Many moons ago you had to inform HMRC very soon after becoming self-employed (declaring tax is separate). So, why delay anyway - inform now to have a consistent record.
Also employed or self-employed is not a choice you make (not for decades if ever) - it's question of facts, for example, contract.

Hello Respected Member!
I am applying for naturalisation on the basis of ILR (Tier 2 G 5Years Route), granted 10th June 2019. Currently I am self employed, NOT a limited company.
In the form, it asks for:
(Q1) the employer's name,Since I am self employed, should it be my name ?
(Q2) Employer's address, should it be my business address?
(Q3) what will be the end date?
(Q4) Are you currently employed?
(Q5)Your type of employment?
(Q6)Employer or business name? (I am not a limited company so no name for my business)
I will be very grateful for your valuable responses please!

These questions are no trick questions. I do not have the sight to the form so unsure what is the sequence but should be straight forward.

As I said, I do not have sight to the online form. You should select self employed and answer as the online form adapts. The name will be your registered name as self employed. The address will be the registered address. If this is what you currently do, the system should not ask for any end date.
Can you take a screen shot and attach here so we can see??

I have made all the tax documents ready, although I have not paid the tax yet, as I still have got time till 31/01/2021 to pay my tax returns.
My dear friend i am assuming this will not be an issue? please!

It should be okay as long you are up to date with your tax and not in breach of any deadlines.

"Have you had any other work over the past 10 years or since you came to the UK?"
I answered this "yes"and after that it does not ask for further explanation.
Do I still need to give all my work details since i have landed in this country (2009) please?

Thank you very much.
I have got P60s for 2017, 2018 and 2019 (till April ) some of my work history and the rest will be my UTR no. when I was running my limited company and self employed.
Will it be enough?

You only need to list last 10 years employment in UK and if you are self employed currently- you will need to provide a latest self assessment tax return. Nothing else is needed.

Hi members
In 2013 I was a co-director of a self limited company. This company has never done any business at all.
When I am looking for this company's filing history on company house website, it gives me this message
"Sorry, no filings in the selected category are available for this company."
Do I still need to mention it in employment history section of the British citizenship form?
Thanks.

Just mention the period you were director. No issues.

thanks brother
So, should I mention name of the company in the form along with position as director?
Secondly, I was directer from 22 jan 2013 till september 2014 for this inactive company, and from october 2013 till september 2016 I was director of my active limited company as well. So being director of both companies at the same time(from october 2013 till september 2014), should be any problem?
Please!

No issues.
Make two separate entries. If you were on payroll you will select director and employee both for that entry, otherwise only director.
