Dropping middle name before naturalization

My ILR BRP currently has a middle name. One of my foreign passports does have the middle name and the other one doesn't. My plan right before applying for naturalisation as British citizen is to drop the middle name from my foreign passport and apply without changing the BRP, in the hope that they will put a correct name on the certificate.

Do you think that will work?

An alternative is naturalising with the middle name and asking to drop it when applying for passport (I can provide plenty of supporting documentation that I never use the middle name anywhere)

What name is on your current passport?

On my current non-british passport I have the middle name. Hence the middle name on the ILR BRP.

just to clarify - I also hold an additional passport which has no middle name and which I never used for anything including applying for UK visas, but always declared its existence of course...
Wherein lies the dilemma - as I understand when I apply for my first BP I will actually need to send this second passport in for the first time and they will realise the discrepancy.
