My grandfather served in the british military. Am I or my mother eligible?

So I had this curiosity come over me as I was looking through my grandfather’s military papers. Would my mother and I be eligible for British citizenship because of it? Do they hold that power?

He served as a nurse during the British mandate of Iraq.

What made me curious about their power was the way my Aunt used those very same papers to get the chance to join UN.

What does joining the UN (service, presumably) have to do with British citizenship?

Merely being enrolled in the British Army will likely not be enough. Was your father either registered or naturalised as a British subject?

Keep in mind that League of Nations mandates were not British colonies and therefore residents did not automatically become a British subject.

Also search on these forums for other queries from mandated territories, especially Mandate Palestine . Almost all of them were ineligible for British citizenship.

Probably nothing. I just wanted to explain what made me curious about the papers.

I don’t think he was registered nor naturalized as British subject. Welp, seems like there’s no big chance of British citizenship.

It isn’t really a need. Was just curious if I could do something with those papers.

Thanks for taking the time to answer. Adios.
