Question about Referees

Good afternoon everybody!
My questions about referees is: 1) For how long they must known the applicant? 2) Do they need to currently live in the UK? 3) Do I need to send the originals?
1) I read in some unofficial websites pages that it should be more than 3 years, but it doesn't say anything in the HO "Referees and Identity" form , nor in the HO Naturalisation booklet so I am a bit confused.
2) Also,do you know if he/she can be a British citizen that is not living in the UK anymore ?
3) If I am correct, both two referees should be sent to the HO in the post . Do we need to send the originals?
Due to the current situation and to avoid contact, I am asking one of my referees to sign it at home, scan it and send it to me. Will it be valid ?
Thank you so much for taking the time and answering the question

I hope everybody is safe !
Question about online application and documents

Hello everybody !!
I would like to apply for British citizenship online. I have been reading lots of the posts in this page. As far as I am aware, when you complete your online application , you will be uploading all the documents they ask you for , such as your original passport. And after that, they will ask you to send by post all the supporting documents which passport is one of them. So my questions about this topics are :
1) Do you actually need to send your original passport physically by post even if you do the online
application ?
2) Do you also need to send previous passports you used to enter the country?
( Because I only have scan copies of those as they are invalid nowadays)
3) If you need to send your passport , does the passport need to be valid for a minimum time ?
( My passport expire in 3 months and I wanted to send the application ASAP, so if they take between 3 to 6 months to give you an answer , my passport may expire during that time )
Thank you sooo much for taking the time to read and answer and all the effort you make to create this amazing platform with lot of useful information

)
Take care everybody!

No originals are sent. Scan and upload. Keep originals safe though.

No originals are sent. Scanned and uploaded via UKVCAS
1) Do you actually need to send your original passport physically by post even if you do the online
application ?
No. You will however take your original passport at your UKVCAS appointment- which will be returned after appointment
2) Do you also need to send previous passports you used to enter the country?

Current passport in your case is fine as you are EU national
3) If you need to send your passport , does the passport need to be valid for a minimum time ?
( My passport expire in 3 months and I wanted to send the application ASAP, so if they take between 3 to 6 months to give you an answer , my passport may expire during that time )
You need to attend biometrics appointment within 2 months. Ideally your passport should be valid till then. If it expires later on - should not be an issue
