English Language requirement

Hi folks, Please I need your advice. I got my permanent residence in 2016, in 2017 I did my English test B1 as I was getting ready to apply for naturalisation.. however I overstayed from 2006 to 2010 so at last minute I decided to wait until 2020 to apply for my naturalisation to be on the safe side. I applied 2 weeks ago and only now I realised that I needed it to do my English test again as mine expired ( I thought the English test was for life, same as life in the uk
What should I do now? Should I wait to see if the get in touch with me? Cancel my application? Or do my English test again and send it before they decide my application? I’m so sad.. felling so stupid I did not check that before applying. Please guys advise me on what to do.. the wait itself is already so painful and now knowing I had made a mistake the pain is even worse

You can take a new B1 SELT and send it to HO before a decision is made.
Have you already submitted biometrics? When did you apply?
In the meanwhile you can send HO a cover letter and explain the situation/request for some time. Take a B1 SELT and submit asap.

Just realised, you said you only applied 2 weeks ago, so most probably you still have to submit your biometrics. You have 2 months to submit biometrics. Simply take a new B1 SELT test before biometrics. Add a cover letter and provide the SELT reference number there. Upload with all documents and submit at biometrics. No issues.

Thank you for your reply Cullinan! I applied for naturalisation 6/12/2020 and did my biometric 8/12/2020 same day UKVCAS submitted my application. What do you think I should do? With my application I submitted my old English test which I did in 2017

Send email to:

Request for a reasonable time and get the new test ASAP.
The CW may request you to submit a valid test anyways but you should act promptly now to avoid delays/refusal.

Actually book a test first and then email/post notifying that you have booked the test at XX date and will provide the result on that date. Request to hold your application till then as you submitted an old expired B1 SELT in error.
Email/Post again as soon you take the test and get the result then.

Once you get the test result, I would suggest you send the result via email and also recorded post.
Mention your UAN, name, nationality, DOB and keep proof of postage safe.
It is very unlikely your decision will be made in next 10 days anyways as you just applied on 6 Dec plus Christmas closures. You are safe.
