Professional Referee - MN1

Hi - We are in the process of filling MN1 application from for our 4 months old daughter. In the referee section,

1. Referee 1 - Holder of a British Citizen passport (and either a professional person or over the age of 25).

2. Referee 2 - This referee should be a person (of any nationality) who has professional standing. This can include a minister of religion, civil servant or a member of a professional body such as an accountant or solicitor

For the second referee, we know a solicitor who can help here.

Question 1- Referee can be someone holding a british passport and over 25 - may not be professional. Correct?

Question 2 - I read whereas thread in this forum that one of the referee must be someone professional engaged with the child, like a teacher or health visitor or doctor. But no where we say that this in the form. Our referee for professional standing is a solicitor. Do we really need a teacher/health visitor/doctor etc as a referee?

Are you referring to this ?
Where the applicant is a child applying, one referee should be a professional who
has engaged with the child in a professional capacity, such as a teacher, health
visitor, social worker or minister of religion

How do we find someone who has engaged with a 4 month infant in professional capacity? Can you please advise what have other people in the forum done in this instance?

For child applicants at least one of the referees must be a person who has dealt with the child in a professional role such as a teacher, doctor, health visitor or social worker. Where a child cannot provide a referee who has dealt with them in a professional capacity and has provided documents to show that they have attempted to do so, you can accept 2 referees who meet the criteria for referees on adult applications.

Add a cover letter and explain. Arrange as per adult criteria. HO is not strict when it comes to referees in case of young children. Given corona, its more understandable.

Thank you.

We know a family friend and he is a child doctor - so not our daughters GP but in general a child doctor practicing in UK. Would that suffice the requirement?

If that doctor has professionally engaged with the child then yes.
