Does my child require ILR before citizenship

Hi everyone,

Need advise on my child situation.

My 5y/o child born outside UK is currently on PBS dependant and will expire on January 2022. He entered UK October 2018.

My wife will be eligible to apply for ILR on July 2021 then can apply citizenship on July 2022. Im not eligible to apply for ILR until May 2022.

Does my child need to have right to remain to stay in UK from Jan 2022 to July 2022 before my wife has been granted citizenship?

Does he need to have ILR for him to be eligible to apply as citizen?

Any advise or other route we can take?

Appreciate all the thoughts. Trying to save £2400 ILR fee. :) Thank you.

The child needs ilr first.

The child can apply for ilr when you do as the requirment is that both parents must be applying or have ilr.

There is no short cut cost saving route for children born abroad.

Thanks for the response.

Just to clarify, Does it require for both of parents to have ILR or wife can include the child on her application on July? As I will qualify for ILR later than the wife so I have to apply for PBS dependant extension.

The child can apply for ILR when you apply. Not when your wife applies.

You may include child in your extension.

We really thought we can include our child in her ILR application. If we did we just gave away £2400 then. We are on health care worker dependant which is much cheaper and dont have to pay IHS. Can we extend our dependant visa through the health care worker even my wife who's main visa holder have her ILR?

Want to clarify as well for our newborn here in UK. I believe we dont have to get him any visa as long as we are not going outside uk and include him on wife citizenship application?

Really appreciate the response.
