Hi, just I have a quick question my son just born on 12/02/2021 and I have already ILR and appiled for citizenship last November but still waiting the home office decision. Will my son be British automatically or I need to register him as British. Do I need to fill any form or just apply for his passport after sorting out his birth registration.

I have ILR since November 2019 and already applied for british citizen.

Thank you

Because your child was born in the UK when at least one parent already held ILR, they are automatically a British citizen and can apply for a British passport, with your ILR BRP and the child's birth certificate.

Because it is your ILR BRP at the time of the child's birth that is the basis of the child's citizenship, do not surrender it even after you become a British citizen.

Thank you so much for clarification. So no need to register him as British citizen and just apply for his passport and keep the my ILR BRP for future.
