Taped Naturalisation Certificate

Hi friends.

So after some time I had finally gotten to applying for my first British passport. I filled in the passport application, paid and got a friend to witness it.

But when I was taking my naturalisation certificate out of the long envelope I kept it in, disaster. It caught on the glue and tore in the middle. It didn’t tear all the way through so I fixed it with some clear tape. It is quite common to do this to official documents where I come from. My birth certificate is all taped up.

But after doing it I realised a note at the bottom of the certificate read that any tampering will render it invalid..

Shall I still send it in because I already paid for the passport application? I have ordered a copy online but judging from some posts it takes a couple of weeks/months for that to be processed.

Many thanks!

Well I sent it. Figured may as well since HM Passport Office does not refund fees for failed or withdrawn applications. Honestly what is the point of having to send the original anyway. They have your reference number.. Bureaucratic stone age.
