I have received my natralisation certificate and now am applying for my first British passport. Upon submitting my application they have asked me for the following documents.
naturalisation or registration certificate
the passport used to enter the UK
First one is fine. But the passport I used to enter the UK expired a long time ago and was also sent to the home office as part of a previous application and was never returned. The only document I possess currently of that type is a travel document. I was thinking about sending that with my application but it specifically says ‘Passport’.
Any advice?

You should submit your Travel Document and attach a note to explain the situation with your previous passport. I understand that once HMPO have issued a passport to you they will retain the Travel Document.

My friend submitted his passport application without submitting his travel document. In the application online it didn’t ask about his travel document. It only asked about his passport he used when he entered the uk which he did not have one anyway . BTW his application is pending ( Processing since 5th March . Will seev

Thanks, I think that is best course of action

As @alterhase58 mentioned, you will send your HOTD when you will apply for your BP to HMPO. Add a cover letter and let them know you are returning your HOTD.

They will retain your HOTD and issue you BP. Also they will issue you an acknowledgment letter (sometimes they do sometimes dont).

You should also state in the cover letter whereabouts of your Home Country Passport. Some refugee’s Home passports are in HO’s custody already but some have them in their possession.

If you do have Home Country Passport in possession you have to send that to HMPO also, otherwise clarify if HO has it.
Once you get your BP, you may request TDS Crodyon to return your Home Passport if you wish (given HO has it).

PS: Travel to Pakistan on BP and NICOP/visa if you plan to. Do not get a new Pakistani Passport or travel on it.
