Hello everyone,

I am a British citizen through naturalization. I got married in 2019 and recently had a child. Also, I have been out of UK for more than 1.5 yrs in the last 3 yrs. For the last 1 yr was in India and couldn't travel back to due to Covid and Lockdown. I am back in the UK now and want to apply for British citizenship for my child and a Spouse visa for my wife.

1) What are my options?
2) Can I apply for a British passport for my child directly in India? or do I need to apply for a visa first?
3) If so what visa it would be for a child? What documents will I need?
4) Also, what are the latest spouse visa requirements? What documents will I need?

I would like to get the process going asap, hence would really appreciate your assistance in this regard.

Thanks in advance.
Regards
EngiBeer

Was the child born before or after the date on your naturalisation certificate?

Thanks for your reply,

The child is born after the date of naturalization. I got my citizenship through naturalization in 2016.

In that case, the child is a British citizen by descent and can apply for a British passport directly.

Be aware that first child British passports abroad can take six months to a year.
