British citizenship or ILR

I have just got mybritish citizenship but my 12 year old son is still on a dependant visa. His vis is still valid and he has been in the UK or over 10 year. My concern now s that, does he have to apply for ILR first or he can apply straight for British citizenship.

Where was he born, abroad or in the UK?

What is the immigration status of the other parent?
