British Citizenship/Naturalisation Query - For Childrens

Hi,

I applied for Naturalization (with 5 yrs ILR + 1 year) for my family and 2 kids. I know that once the Naturalization approval is received, we need to wait for the Ceremony invitation letter and complete the ceremony to receive the certificate for adults.

Since the ceremony is only applicable for adults, I was not clear on how certificate is received for children less than 18 years.

Once the approval letter is received, will kids receive the certification immediately separate to parents (who need to wait for the invitation and attend the ceremony to receive the certificate) or Children's receive the certification when parents receive the certification after the ceremony?

Looking for your guidance and response.

Thanks,
Venky

Certificate of registration for children will be posted to your Home Address after the application is approved.

Thanks for your response.

Once the registration certificate is received, what are the next steps to be followed (posted below based on my understanding) and is there related timelines to complete those steps.

Sending back the ILR BRP (within 5 days after receiving registration certificate?)
Applying British Passport
Surrendering the Indian passport (Within 3 months after receiving the registration certificate?). Once registration certificate is received, existing Indian passport cannot be used from the date of receipt or any timeline it can be used after we received the certificate?
Applying for OCI (For Indians)

Please provide your feedback.

Thanks,
Venkatesh

Hi Moderators,

Can you please help me to clarify my below query as I am planning for a travel India and will be useful to understand the process/conditions before I make any travel arrangements.

BC applicants: 2 Adults and 2 Kids
Settled Status: ILR for all (5 Years + 1 year to meet the BC criteria)
BC application online submission date: 24-12-2020
BC Biometric submission date: 25-01-2020
Approval status: Awaiting response
Invitation status: Awaiting response

Since we made the BC application as a family (2 adults and 2 kids), I want to understand whether the invitation will be send collect the Naturalization certificate and Registration certificate from council all at the time or Registration certificate for the kids will be received immediately after the Approval status?

As per the below doc: It indicates for the family application, invitation will be sent to collect Naturalization certificate and Registration certificate from council at the same time.

Oath and pledge
Unlike adults, when children successfully obtain citizenship there is no legal
requirement for them to attend a ceremony and take the oath and pledge. However,
if they are part of a successful family application they will receive an invite along with
their parents to attend the ceremony and receive their certificate of registration, and
if they wish, take the oath and pledge.

Can you please provide some guidance with this topic.

Thanks,
Venkatesh

Children become British when the application is approved/date on the registration certificate.

PRE-corona if you applied with family, children used to get the certificate from the council - at least in my experience and circle (my sister in law who is a child applied with family). Her parents collected her certificate at the time of their own ceremony from the council.

But POST-corona, it seems like even if children apply in the same account with family, the child’s certificate is posted to the Home Address after application is approved.

As of my understanding, once you will become British, you will automatically loose Indian Citizenship and have to surrender your Indian Passport. I do not know that process. Someone else can help?

Adults do not become British till you attend the ceremony.

Travelling before ceremony is OK. In case of children as long their ILR BRP is valid there should not be any issues to return to UK. But you need to check the status for Indian Citizenship once the child becomes British?
