Nationality By birth

Hi,

I'm on ILR and in process for applying British Citizenship.
Currently my family is in India... If my daughter is born in India, does she get Indian passport or British Passport? (She is due to be born in June)
My understanding is she will get Indian Passport. And then she needs to apply for Tier 2 visa and then travel to UK - under current circumstances.

If I get British Citizenship by then - does she need to apply for UK citizenship in India?

Appreciate any help!

Highly unlikely you will be British by June. There are currently delays, especially for ceremonies.

If child is born while you hold ilr,she is only an Indian citizen.

If she is born on or after the date of your citizenship ceremony/naturalisation certificate (date of letter of approval from the Home Office does not matter), she will be a British citizen by descent. Because she will be a British citizen by descent, she will not be able to automatically pass on British citizenship to her own children if born outside the UK.

If she is born before that date, even by a day, she is not a British citizen and will follow the same immigration pathway as the other parent and will require to have ILR herself before registering for British citizenship.
