Proof living in the UK - NI contributions

Hello,

I am applying to British citizenship with Settled Status and had a one year gap in employment in 2017 so I cannot provide payslips/P60 for that year. Also I was absent travelling for 5 months during that period (not exceeding the authorised absences).

Would I be able to justify that I was living in the UK showing a statement of my NI contributions or a tenancy agreement with a private landlord and my flight/train tickets showing exit/entry to the UK in 2017 ?

Thank you in advance

If you have any other "official" documents or communications covering the periods, such as Council Tax bills, DWP pensions/child benefit, HMRC notifications that would be ideal. NI Statement should be fine in this case.

Thank you for your response.

I have one letter from HMRC requesting information from me. Would that be sufficient ? Will I need one proof for each month ?

Most recommended documents will cover a whole year - perhaps if the letter refers to the tax year it should be ok. If in doubt you can add other documents as you see fit, providing they are dated for the period.

Application date

Hello,

Please can someone clarify if the official application date for British Citizenship is the date the application is submitted and paid on the government website or if it is the date of the UKVCAS appointment ?

Thank you

The date of application is the date you submit and pay online and not the biomteric appointment date.
