Can dependents of UK citizen apply for naturalization without ILR?

Hello, I was wondering if it is possible for a spouse, who's been in the UK for three years but does not have ILR, to apply for naturalization when the married partner obtains citizenship?

My wife and I came to the UK in 2013. After five years I applied for ILR, whereas my wife couldn't because she was overseas for an extended period of time. Now, I have been naturalized but my wife and son (who was born in India) won't be eligible for ILR till next year.

Would it be possible for my wife and son to apply for naturalization? based on the fact that they are now dependents of UK citizen. Or they have to apply for ILR first, wait another year, and then apply for naturalization?

Any thoughts and suggestions would be very helpful.

Thanks

No.

The spouse of a British citizen needs to hold ILR themselves and meet other requirements (such as being physically present in the UK exactly three years before the date of naturalisation application, absence requirements for both the three year and one year period preceding the date of application, etc) in order to naturalise themselves.

The spouse of a British citizen can apply for naturalisation immediately after being granted ILR and does not need to wait for a year before applying for naturalisation.

Assuming that your son is born abroad and under the age of 18, he will need to apply for ILR along with their second parent. Once he has been granted ILR, he can then apply to register as a British citizen on Form MN1 OR he can apply to register as a British citizen alongside their second parent on the online form.

If the New UK citizenship achieved after 6 years (Tier 2 5 yrs + 1 year ILR) would my pbs dependants be eligible for ILR after 3 yrs or they have to complete 5 years to get ILR

THANKS

2. 5 years to get ilr. There is no shortcut or 3 year ilr route
