Hello,
I am in the process of applying for naturalisation as a British citizen with EU settled status which was granted to me more than a year ago.

I am confused with online application form on question below;

Are you either:
An EEA national who has been issued with a permanent residence document
A family member of an EEA national who has been issued with a permanent residence card

above question is not very clear as I don't have have a permanent residence document nor card, I only have settled status/ILR under EU settlement. I assume I say Yes to this as then questions below come up:

What will you use to apply for British citizenship?
Permanent residence card or document
Indefinite leave to remain (ILR), including ILR granted under the EU Settlement Scheme

So i click on 2nd option ILR under EU settlement

Then after completing the form and onto required Documents page: it states below

You must include your:
passport or EEA national identity card
UK permanent residence card
evidence of freedom from immigration time restrictions
You must have a permanent residence card before you can apply for citizenship Apply for a permanent residence card.

Am I doing something wrong? I don't have a permanent residence card and now we can't apply one. Also i have settled status from EU settlement.. this is so confusing..

Thank you for your help!!

You certainly don't need an EEA PR card to apply - your settled status is sufficient.
What if you say NO to the first question? Sorry but we don't have sight of all the input screens. So can't know immediately what the system will do.

Thank you for your quick reply.

If I say no, there is no following question in the same section.

But then few steps further down, it asks below question

Have you been granted indefinite leave to enter, or remain, in the UK?
(Required)
Answer 'No' if you do not have time restrictions on your stay for another reason. For example, you have a right of abode in the UK.

Yes
No

Date your leave was granted (if known)

But then required documents page won't change and still requests same thing:
You must include your:
passport or EEA national identity card
UK permanent residence card
evidence of freedom from immigration time restrictions
You must have a permanent residence card before you can apply for citizenship Apply for a permanent residence card.

oh Also I am Swiss and we are not part of EEA so I assume on the first question I should really say No...

EEA normally includes EFTA and Switzerland and you don't have a PR card.
Alternatively, if all else fails, just write an explanatory note, refer to your settled status reference number and attach copy of the approval email, and load with your other documents. Caseworkers will know what they are looking at.

thank you for your reply.
so do you think I should just say No to first question:
Are you either:
An EEA national who has been issued with a permanent residence document
A family member of an EEA national who has been issued with a permanent residence card

and fill in latter part of Have you been granted indefinite leave to enter, or remain, in the UK?

No is the correct answer because you don't have a PR document (issued under Eea regulations that is) and choose ILR because that's what UK settled status is.

If you say YES and then in the next question they ask you whether you have EEA settled status. I believe this application process was initially set up for EEA residents with PR card and then later they changed it to applicable to settled status. There are few issues like this in this application process.

TO make it more clear before there was only 2 routes available for naturalisation.
1. Via ILR route (International immigrants)
2. PR card route (EEA immigrants)

Now they introduced Settled status they just add the option if you say yes to PR card.
