Hi All,

I am planning to apply for my 4 year old daughter's first British passport.

My daughter was born in India and she currently has Indian passport with ‘Certificate of Entitlement to Right of Abode’.

My plan is to directly apply for her first British passport since she is already a British citizen (considering I was a British citizen when she was born and I could pass on my citizenship to her).

Can someone please confirm whether my understanding is correct and that there shouldn't be any issues if I apply directly for my daughter’s first British passport?

Once I get my daughter’s first British passport, I will then surrender her Indian passport and apply for her OCI. Please confirm whether this is fine?

Yes, you can directly apply for a first British child passport for her. Keep in mind that you will need to submit the same evidence as you did for the CoE-RoA (your naturalisation certificate, your daughter's birth certificate, etc).

That should be fine, but any further questions about OCI should go into the Other Countries forum further down the main page.

While applying for my daughter's first British passport (on her behalf), I am asked - Do you have a naturalisation or registration certificate?

This doesn't apply to my daughter since she is British by birth (as per details in my earlier question) correct?
