Hi,
I wondered if someone can help please. A person came to the UK who has a child from previous marriage outside the UK and neither child or the ex wife have ever visited the UK. The person has now become British in his own right, and would like to apply for his child's nationality. Can someone suggest which application to apply for? Thanks.

He cannot. His obtaining citizenship doesn't apply retrospectively to children born before he became British.

How old is the child?

Presumably the child lives with the mother.

The child is 10 and lives with the mother. Can he register via MN1 or maybe apply for ILE?

The child will qualify for a visa if he can prove sole responsibility with official papers. He likely doesn't have this.

He cannot apply to register the child as British no.
