Submitting application while abroad?

Is it allowed to submit a citizenship application when you are abroad? I understand you had to be in UK the same day 5 years before. However, does this principle apply also to the date you submit the application?

In my case, I would like to submit the form and pay while abroad, and then to book the biometric appointment when I'm back in the UK.

If yes, how would you calculate the number of days you're abroad?

Thanks!
Federico

It says if more than 6 months,
So the question is, if someone goes abroad on 1-1-2021 for example and apply on 3-1-2021 and return to the UK on 20-1-2021, will they refuse his application because he applied from abroad?, I know a friend applied from abroad and he explained that in a cover letter why he was abroad.
