Hi everyone -
I was born in London England in 1992 to two Canadian citizens who were married at the time (still are). My parents were both living in England at the time and my father had the following stamp in his passport:
"given leave to enter the united kingdom for an indefinite period"

My reading of the gov.uk citizenship site is that due to the stamp above my father had "Indefinite Leave to Remain" and because of that I am a British citizen. Is that correct?
I'm confused because I see different variations of indefinite leave to remain/indefinite leave to enter and their stamps online.

Passport stamps/vignettes for Indefinite Leave to Remain/Enter (ILR/ILE) have changed multiple times over the past few decades.

From your description of the stamp in your father's passport, I agree that it is quite likely that you are a British citizen otherwise than by descent and can apply for a British passport directly.

You will need your British birth certificate and your father's passport with the ILE stamp in it predating your birth.
