naturalization application and payment issue

Hi ! Sorry all .
First I am new to this forum.
Well I wonder if I can get any help.
My wife and son applied for naturalisation and registration (son is minor) as they were eligible for the same on 22 June 2021 .
It was a postal application.
Home office tried to take the money of £2380.40 from my card but got declined.
Received email with case ID for my wife only not son
Received payment form from HO after few days along with acknowledgement of all the documents.
This time I paid by cheque.
Well when the cheque went for processing they wanted authorisation from me. They called me but since I was driving I couldn't answer the call.
But I realised it must be from the bank. So I checked my bank account and saw the bank debited and again credited my account. It was on 16 July 21.
I also received a letter from the bank saying advice from drawing required please represent. They could not pay the cheque because they wanted authorisation
Well then I spoke with the bank and gave them authorisation. They said they will not return but process the cheque manually on 19 July 21.
Early morning of 19 July 21 I saw there was a debit on my account with the cheque no as reference. But the bank transfered the amount as it was showing as TFR.
Now the thing is it's been more than a month my wife and son has not received any email about enrolling their bio metric.
So in this regard I would like to know what shall I do.
Can anybody help me please.
Shall I contact the HO or shall I wait. Its very stressful.
Since my money has come out from my account and the all the original documents is with the HO.
Please help.

You should have applied online to avoid all these issues and keep all originals while the application is in process.

Postal applications are for certain circumstances only, as the form states.

A letter (not an email) will be sent for biometrics but can take a while.

Thanks for the reply.
I understand it would have been better online rather than by post. But I not aware of it.
As you said I will receive letter( not email) so is it best to wait or to contact HO .

HI am a bit confused. After all the payment issue what is the next step. (Cheque paid)
What and when will my wife and son receive any letter from HO.
Still we are waiting. They haven't done their bio metric yet.
So shall we contact the HO or wait till they receive any letter.
Very stressful.

Note that postal applications take longer than online.
You can contact the UKVI helpline:
0300 123 2253
"You should call our Contact Centre on 0300 123 2253 or email us at: FurtherNationalityEnquiries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk (you should pr.ovide your name, date of birth, place of birth, current nationality, immigration status and Home Office Reference number where known."

Note the helpline does not have direct access to your application or caseworkers.
