Permanent Departure from the UK and Section 1(3) application

Two hypothetical scenarios:
  • I submit an application for registration of my child as British citizen under Section 1(3) today. In a few weeks, before the application is decided, my family moves away from the UK.
  • I submit an application for registration of my child as British citizen under Section 1(3) today. In a few months, after citizenship has been granted my family moves away from the UK.
In scenario 1: Would I be able actually follow through with the registration even though my family is abroad when the application is decided?

In scenario 2: Could there be any repercussions or is my child at risk of losing British citizenship if a permanent move away from the UK takes place shortly after citizenship being granted?

1. Section 1(3) is for a UK born child so it is an entitlement to register as British from any country before the child turns 18. The issue you have is that the certificate will be sent to your stated UK address.

2. No issue. The UK doesn't keep British citizens hostage!

Oh sorry I think I didn't clearly state what my worry was: MN1 asks "In which country will the child live if this application is granted". One could argue that if I answer "UK" to this question but then move away for good that my answer was misleading. My worry is that, therefore, British citizenship might not be granted/revoked.

You're overthinking.
