Child's first UK passport requirements

Hi all,

Both parents have ILR, non-EU, non-EEA, non-European at all.
Child was born after parents got ILR, so according to current rules the child is British.
I'm applying for first child UK passport but they are asking for several useless documents, such as grandparents birth certificates (originals, from overseas!?).
Shouldn't the child birth certificate and one of the parent's ILR BRP be enough to prove child's British citizenship and right for UK passport?
What is your experience?

Hi,
I am in exact similar situation. I tried to fill up the online form yesterday for my son. Both me and my husband have had ILR since more than 6 years. It did not ask for grandparents documents for my daughter when we went through exact same process 6 years ago with same immigration status.
But, it is asking now and for the postal application it did not mention any such documents.
Did you get answer to your query? The passport advice line is busy since forever!
Sorry I couldn't help you.

Thanks in advance
