Hi All,

I am planning to apply for my 4 year old daughter's first British passport.

My daughter was born in India and she currently has Indian passport with ‘Certificate of Entitlement to Right of Abode’.

My plan is to directly apply for her first British passport since she is already a British citizen (considering I was a British citizen when she was born and I could pass on my citizenship to her).

As per the document list, we need to submit the below:

Parents’ documents
For 1 of your parents, send 1 of the following:

full birth or adoption certificate
naturalisation or registration certificate

So can we submit her mother's birth certificate only since I have lost my naturalisation certificate?

Her mother is on Indian passport with ILR.

As far as I know the document to be submitted needs to prove that one of the parents is British - so you need to find your naturalisation certificate or obtain a replacement. https://www.gov.uk/get-replacement-citi ... ertificate.

Refer to highlight!

Send the one document that proves that one parent was a Britsih citizen otherwise than by descent at the time of her birth.

In this case, it can only be your naturalisation certificate (plus of course, her birth certificate to prove descent from you).
