ILR stamp in expired passport ok as immigration freedom proof?

I received my ILR 10 years ago but that is in my old (expired passport). I do have a current valid passport but did not get a BRP since I carried both passports for international travel.

Can I submit my expired passport (with ILR stamp) as an evidence of 'freedom from immigration control' to apply for naturalisation?

thank you

ok, thanks but is ILR in old passport acceptable as proof of freedom from immigration restrictions - since in theory ILR does not expire even it the passport does?

I do not want to apply for BRP unless it is essential since I want to directly apply for naturalisation now.

A BRP is not compulsory for naturalisation - the vignette in your passport is sufficient to prove "freedom from immigration restrictions".

Thanks, this is very reassuring - just to double check - is this true even if the ILR vignette is in the expired passport?

Yes. Remember ILR doesn't expire!

One last question on this:

For the ILR endorsement in my expired passport, do I need to scan/submit only proof of this endorsement or the whole passport?

I am conscious that for current passport, all pages need to be scanned and submitted.

Just scan the page referring to ILR. It's the same as if you had a BRP card.

I have a large number of documents more than 50 that I want to up load. Is there a limit to the number of documents that one can upload. I believe each document cannot be larger than 5mb? I will be grateful for advice.

I think it's 6 MB limit.
Are you applying for naturalisation? 50 documents seems excessive ....
Residency proof should only take your passport(s) - employment record doesn't need documents.

Thanks. Yes, naturalisation.

It is mainly due to bank statements. I am a student and have been advised to upload bank statements from lat 5 years to show physical transactions proof.

I assume 6mb is the limit for each document? But is there an upper limit to the number of docs you can upload? I think I may have around 30-35 documents mainly because large number of bank statements.

thanks in advance

Bank statements are not accepted for naturalisation - your proof of residency is your passport(s) covering the residency period. You being a student is not relevant. What is the source of that advice?

I consulted with a solicitor. I am submitting a non eea passport that shows entry stamps in the UK and entry and exit stamps for overseas visits. I was told in addition to this passport, bank statements are a good proof of showing physical presence - since they will show actual transactions. Also, advised to submit a letter from the education establishment as an evidence of ongoing registration.

Of course you can add as many documents as you wish but for those under UK ILR passport(s) covering the residency period are sufficient.
