First British passport after naturalization while holding CTD only

Hello,

I am applying for first british passport after naturalisation and I am super confused as to what supporting document can suffice

I have UK Convention Travel Document (Current and Expired).
My national passport (which I entered the country with) was kept with the HO when I got the Travel Document. I have a letter from HO confirming that.

I have Naturalisation certificate obviously.

Would sending CTDs be enough? or do I first need to ask HO to return my national passport and include it as a supporting document? How does it work?

I called HMPO twice and every time I got a different answer. Please help

Enclose your travel document - HMPO will retain this and return to the Home Office. Home Office may or may not return your old passport. Suggest you enclose a covering note explaining the situation.

Thank you Alterhase - does that mean HMPO are not fixated on me sending my national passport and will accept CTD (current and expired)? It’s odd there is zero mention of this situation anywhere in the published guides…

I expect there aren't many people holding TDs so "special" cases are not explained in the normal guidance.
There are other scenarios where the document requirements are also different from routine cases.
