I understand that you need to submit the passport you used to enter UK. If that passport had expired and I have a new passport, do I need to submit the expired passport only or both expired and new passport when I apply for my first British passport?

You need to submit all uncancelled passports. An simple expired passport is an uncancelled passport. A passport is cancelled when it is clipped and stamped cancel

If the passport that is used to enter UK is cancelled, do we need to submit that passport?

If it is cut and stamped cancelled by the home country authorities, then no.
If it is just expired but not cut and stamped cancelled by your home country authorities, then you have to submit it, ie all uncancelled passports.

When applying for your first passport, do they call for interview nowadays? If yes, is it virtual or in person interview? What are the questions that they will ask?

Not everyone has to attend an interview anymore. It is random. An interview will be in person at an HMPO centre.

I applied for my passport today but could not proceed to give the email contact of my friend to verify my identity. Anyone else experienced this?
Is the system down or is there another way to give the friend's email contact?

I am applying for both mine and my wife passports. Both of us received confirmation that the passport is to be send to different address. I found a UK Web page that states that we can send it to either of the addresses. However, I could not locate this Web page again.
Am I correct that we can it to either addresses?

On the face of it I would post to each address as requested by the system - unless there is a proviso that it can be sent to either address.
My assumption would be that even if you both apply together the application may not necessarily be processed by the same caseworker.

Thank you for the reply.
I have sent it to the same address, based on the attached guidance.

Thanks - that's useful - is there a weblink to that page?

I took the photo of the guidelines a few days ago. If I am not mistaken, it was a link found after I submitted my passport application.
I tried looking for the link and could not find it now.

When passport application is approved, we receive notification via sms and email that it has been approved and updates on passport printing and delivery. Do we get any notification on when the documents is being send back to us?

All our passports had been received. From my experience, there is no difference in sending the application to the same address or to each address as requested by the system. The timeframe is about the same.
