Hello,
I'm in the process of applying for British Citizenship. My husband became British Citizenship about 20 years ago, and I've been in the UK for over 8 years now, so I don't really need him to apply for my Citizenship. When I'm filling out the application, it asked me about my husband and about his Naturalisation Certificate number. The problem is that my husband doesn't have this Certificate. Would it be possible to somehow skip this step? Or there is no other choice and I have to provide Homo Office with those information. I know that you can request a copy of Naturalisation Certificate but that cost £250, and I would like to avoid adding extra costs. Please advice me if there is anything what I can do?

You may be able to find your husband's naturalisation certificate number on the National Archives website:

Put his surname in the search box. If you find it it will be in the format:
Reference: HO xxx/xxxx/xxxxx
The certificate number is the last lot of digits

He got his naturalistion in 2000, so is not in archive:/.

Try a SAR.

They wouldnt give certificate number, only date and status.

You have to order another copy. One of our family friend had the same issue. she had to order another one.

If your husband kept a copy of his application for a British passport the naturalisation certificate number would be on it.

If he had used his naturalisation certificate as evidence of a right to work, then his employers may have a copy?
