British Citizenship ceremony from abroad

Dear Members,

I have a question about requesting to conduct a citizenship ceremony from abroad once approved.

If an applicant's british citizenship application is approved while they are abroad, can they request home office to conduct their oath ceremony from abroad? Also this for applicant who is spouse of a British national who does not have to fulfill the requirement of making UK their permanent home.

Has anyone made any such requests to home office in the past? Can you please advise if it is possible?

Kind Regards,

No to both questions.

The Gov.UK website page on citizenship ceremonies does state that "If you applied for citizenship in the UK, you cannot have your ceremony abroad."

The only people who can have their citizenship ceremony abroad are spouses of British citizens in Crown Service abroad (generally diplomats or military personnel posted abroad) or people who were registered as British citizens because they would have been born British citizens but for the laws in place at the time (such as those registered under Form UKM or UKF).
