Updating record with UKVI - father birth country

Hi, asking for a friend. My friend became a BC, his father was born in 1950s in a border village. When my friend was filling his applications with UKVI he was asked about birth place and country of his father. He provided the correct village name as per his dad passport, but realised he was putting the wrong country (no father doc showed the country)
The village is disputed between 3 countries, so my friend checked the map and found that the village belonged to country 3, so assumed that it was taken from country 2, but was informed recently that it actually belonged to country 1 at time of birth. How to contact UKVI to update them about that? BTW, neither of the countries would benefit the applicant in favour.

Your friend is a British citizen now - why do you think he has to update UKVI with this minor detail?
Parents' details of applicants are requested in case they may already be British through their parents - it does happen occasionally that people don't realise hey are British.

Thank you! I agree with you! This is what I was trying to explain to him. He’s worried with all the climate nowadays that this minor error might cause him issues in the future. I will pass your opinion to him. Highly appreciated…

Is his father’s citizenship or his citizenship affected by his father’s place of birth?

No, his and his father’s citizenship is of country 2. His father’s country of birth in country 1, doesn’t entitle my friend or his dad to that country citizenship as country 1 doesn’t recognise nationality by birth.

If the village’s country was disputed and it doesn’t affect your nationality, then I don’t think that the country mistake would matter.
