Passport expiry of applicant applying for British Citizenship

Dear all,
My brother is applying for his UK citizenship next week (12 Jan 2022). However, his current passport is expiring in March 2022. Does he first need to apply for his passport and then apply for UK citizenship as application can take up to 6 months to process? In other words, for visas (travel to EU countries), there is a need to have 6 months of validity of passport; is there a similar rule for the naturalization process?
