Timeframe for British citizenship after ILR

Hello Everyone,

I am a bit confused about the timeframe for British Citizenship application after ILR. I've received conflicting info so far, hence the question to clarify. My Spouse, an EEA national has settled status and has also applied and received the British Citizenship. I'm on a spouse visa (Non-EU) and will be eligible for ILR in June 2023 (5 year route). Upon receiving my ILR in 2023, do I still need to wait 12 months prior to applying for my British Citizenship in 2024 or am I able to apply for my British Citizenship immediately upon receiving my ILR as my Spouse is now a British Citizen?

This is only to get my documentation (supporting documents in order for the previous 10 years as my spouse was requested to provide) in order and start collecting and organising them.

Do let me know.

Kind regards.

You should be able to apply as a Spouse of BC, straight away. It is mentioned here in T2 visa context, but hopefully will apply on your case as well.

You will be able to apply immediately after receiving ILR, as spouse of a British citizen, and if all requirements are satisfied.
