Registering a child as British Citizen (Online Application)

Hi All,

I have a few questions, as I am applying to register our child (3 year old boy) in the UK as British Citizen. Our background history is - me and my wife both received our ILR last year on 15-06-2021. Our Child was born in UK on 27-10-2018. At the time of his birth, we both were on Tier-2 General Visa (myself as Main applicant and my wife as dependent). Thus, we do have his birth certificate issue in UK, but he was registered as Indian Citizen and then we applied for his Tier-2 Dependent visa - which is expiring this Feb (in next few days). So my questions are as follows -
1. Is this Type of Application Correct - Apply for registration of a child under 18 as a British citizen?
2. His current Tier-2 is expiring on 06-02-2022, till when we can submit the application for registration as British Citizen? (allowed period time is 30days?)
3. Section for Referee - we have agreed with his nursery to provide the details for 1 referee and for another shall we ask for details of a friend who is born British Citizen or someone like us who got their British passport last year?
4. Section for Referee - for the child's nursery to provide details - Do we need 1 person (maybe an administrator or head of nursery) to provide their personal details ? Because in the form there is no option to fill details from a organisation/office?
5. Section for Referee - Do we need any letter of reference (on a letter head or something similar) with signatures to provide as evidence from whosoever is being the 1st or 2nd referee?
6. Please provide sample template for Referee Declaration Form?

I need this information; any help or pointers would be great (running against time; as his Visa will expire in next 1-2 days)
Regards,
CS

1. Yes. It is form MN1

2. Irrelevant. A UK born child has an entitlement to Register as British even if they do not have a valid visa.

3. Fine.

4. You need an actual person. You cannot give a business as a reference. It cannot be an administrator either. You either need the owner to sign or a teacher.

5. No. You only need the form, which is part of the online form or print the form in the link below. Each referee must sign a form.

Hi Thanks for the replies, that's really helpful, one point about the point you mentioned in #4 - as per written in declaration form - "Where the applicant is a child applying, one referee should be a professional who
has engaged with the child in a professional capacity, such as a teacher
, health
visitor, social worker or minister of religion." - If we look at the highlighted line - we could/should be able to identify a "teacher" as my son's head of nursery/key worker at nursery as they have all worked with in professional capacity. He is only 3, so he hasn't started the pre-school yet.

Please clarify
