Travel after application submitted but before biometrics

Hi,
I submitted my application for Naturalisation in Jan 2022, and I have biometrics appointment in February. However, I need to travel to India for emergency reasons before the biometrics appointment. Could you please help clarify the following:
1) Do I need to submit an amendment to my application after I return from India?
OR
2) Can I submit a cover letter explaining the absence, will that be sufficient?
